SEED is unapologetically about fecundity. The series speculates on the order and rhythms found in nature, and their marvelous interconnectedness. Seemingly random or disparate elements are governed by patterns and bound by dependencies – and made stronger by such constraints and relationships. While I believe in art that embodies beauty, I also relish sinister undercurrents. The small, sharp pearls and pods on each panel hint at the simultaneous promise and threat of endless seeds, unchecked growth, and the mystery (and sometimes fear) historically attached to female sexuality.
