The lushness of late summer – splendid greenery, ripe berries, and fattened clouds – always has the curling edge of autumn around it. The time of harvest and falling away is near, and coolness is already pecking around the edges of the days. Summer has always been my favorite time of year, but as I grow older, I savor the coming rest.
